Tales of Death & Dementia
[1416950257]
$17.49
EDGAR ALLAN POES TALES OF DEATH AND DEMENTIA.

Illustrated by Gris Grimly.

OVERVIEW: Lavishly illustrated, four classic tales by the horror master:

  • The Tell-Tale Heart
  • The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether.
  • The Oblong Box.
  • The Facts in the Cases of M. Valdemar.

--are bound in a graphic novel-style format showcasing the deliciously macabre spirit of Poes tales. Full color.

Beautiful edition illustrated by Gris Grimly (surely not his real name?). Lavishly illustrated characters from Poes stories, are given a new life here in this collection. Old and new Poe fans alike will enjoy this new entry into the long line of Poe books. Its stirred my interest to look for my copy of Alan Parsons Project TALES OF MYSTERY AND IMAGINATION, their first album that features Orson Welles narration of Poes work. This new book on Poe is a fine volume I highly reccomend. -- Dave

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Mr. Gris Grimly is as mysterious as Poe himself. What is known is that his own particular brand of creative brilliance was first seen in many books, including Monster Museum, The Cockatrice Boys, Pinocchio, Creature Carnival, Boris and Bella, and Gris Grimlys Wicked Nursery Rhymes. Then he found himself under the spell of Edgar Allan Poe, and, for years and years, was compelled to give a visual representation of Mr. Poes ghoulish genius. This book is the result of his mania.

2009 Atheneum press hard cover, 144 pages. New. List Price $18.95.
