This release includes a brilliant introduction by the author HIS OWNSELF in which he reveals insight into his time writing the book, a rare Lansdale short story “Man With Two Lives” (a great companion piece from the same era as the book), all-new cover art and sketches by fine artist Charlie Bullock, and an afterword by Keith Lansdale on how Joe is like a superhero.

First published in 1986, THE MAGIC WAGON tells the tall tales of narrator Buster Fogg and the group of traveling merchant marauders he takes up with after his family is killed by a tornado. Their adventures take them through dank caves, across the countryside, and into Mud Creek - an East Texas town that would have made Deadwood look like the Land of Oz.
 

About the Author:

East Texas native Joe R. Lansdale is the author of fifty novels and more than 300 short stories. He has received an Edgar Award, ten Bram Stoker Awards along with a Bram Stoker Lifetime Achievement Award, a Horror Writers Association Lifetime Achievement Award, an American Mystery Award, a British Fantasy Award, an International Horror Guild Award, a Spur Award, a Grinzani Cavour Prize for Literature, a Herodotus Historical Fiction Award, a Burroughs Bibliophiles Golden Lion Award, the Inkpot Award for Contributions to Science Fiction and Fantasy, and many others.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Charlie Bullock associates himself with Western and Southwest art themes. During his 35 years as an artist, he has lived in places like Sedona, AZ, Santa Fe, NM, Durango, CO, and Fredericksburg, TX. He has studied with Howard Terpning and Jack Swanson, who are members of the Cowboy Artists of America, and he has also studied under notable portrait artist Dimitri Vail. Charlie has also been accepted into numerous juried art shows and workshops. His art has been represented by galleries in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Colorado and New Jersey.
